Valley Green Bank Board of Directors
Algot F. Thorell, Jr., Chairman
Mr. Thorell is a founder of the Bank and serves as its Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Thorell recently retired as a principal of Lincoln Benefits Group, an advisory and benefits consulting company. Mr. Thorell, has over 25 years of banking experience and is a former founder and President of the Chestnut Hill National Bank and Executive Vice President of National Penn. Mr. Thorell has been an officer, director or trustee of many non-profit corporate boards providing community development or social services in Philadelphia. He currently serves as President of the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Jay R. Goldstein, Chief Executive Officer, President and Director
Mr. Goldstein is a founder of the Bank, serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Goldstein was formerly a partner in the law firm of Kleinbard, Bell & Brecker LLP, concentrating in mergers and acquisitions, public and private finance, and real estate with particular expertise in emerging businesses and economic development. Mr. Goldstein is active in the local community and was appointed by Philadelphia’s Mayor Michael Nutter as Vice Chairman of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation.
Robert J. Marino, President, Delaware Valley Region and Director
Mr. Marino serves as President of the Delaware Valley Region of the Bank and is a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Marino was formerly the President of National Penn Bank’s Southern Region, which operates in Philadelphia, the Main Line, and Chester County. In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Marino is active in the local community.
Mr. Elfant is a founder of the Bank and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Mr. Elfant is President of Elfant Wissahickon Realtors, a real estate brokerage firm in Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill, Roxborough, Flourtown and Center City Philadelphia. Mr. Elfant is also the President and principal shareholder of Martin Elfant Inc., a property management company. Mr. Elfant is actively involved in the community.
Phoebe A. Haddon
Ms. Haddon is a founder of the Bank and currently serves on its Board of Directors. She is the Dean of the University of Maryland School of Law. Prior to her current position, Ms. Haddon was a professor at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law. She has also served in local and state government relating to housing and community and economic development.
Mr. Hayden serves on the Board of Directors of the Bank. He is a partner in the law firm of Saul Ewing LLP and a principal of CHH Partners, a consulting firm that provides non-legal counseling relating to government relations, lobbying services and business solutions. Mr. Hayden served as a Senior Advisor to Michael Nutter’s campaign for Mayor of Philadelphia and was Counsel to Mayor Nutter’s Transition Committee. From 1986 to 1992, he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives distinguishing himself as a leader in conservation and environmental matters. Mr. Hayden was Governor Ed Rendell’s appointee to the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and is a Board Member of the Board of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
Philip D.W. Krey
Dr. Krey is a founder of the Bank and serves on its Board of Directors. Dr. Krey is the President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia. Dr. Krey was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Munich.
Ms. Kulp is a founder of the Bank and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Ms. Kulp is the President/CEO of Homecare Associates, a worker-owned home healthcare company. In 2006 Ms. Kulp received an award as one of Pennsylvania’s Fifty Best Women in Business.
John W. McCoubrey
Mr. McCoubrey is a founder of the Bank and serves on its Board of Directors. Mr. McCoubrey is President of McCoubrey/Overholser, Inc. Building Construction, a high-end building and construction contractor with offices located in Mt. Airy.
Kenneth L. Shropshire
Mr. Shropshire is a founder of the Bank and serves on its Board of Directors. Mr. Shropshire is the David W. Hauck professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He specializes in sports business law and has provided consulting services to the NCAA, the National Football League, the United States Olympic Committee, Major League Baseball, IBM, Clorox, and Fannie-Mae.
Michael L. Turner
Mr. Turner is a founder of the Bank and serves on its Board of Directors. He is a partner in the defense litigation firm, Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin. Mr. Turner specializes in the preparation and trial of complex personal injury, products liability and criminal cases. Mr. Turner is the President of the Board of the Center City Crime Victim Services Association and active in local civic organizations.
Mr. Weinstein is a founder of the Bank and serves on its Board of Directors. He is President of Weinstein Properties, LLC, and owns the Trolley Car Diner & Deli and the Trolley Car Ice Cream Shoppe, both located in Mt. Airy. Mr. Weinstein is the Chair of the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District and actively involved in other community organizations.

Cheryl Hinkle Richards
Ms. Richards is the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Valley Green Bank. Prior to joining the Bank, she was a Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Madison Bank in Blue Bell, PA. Prior to joining Madison Bank, Ms. Richards opened six start - up banks in the Midwest.
Mr. Astheimer is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Credit Officer at Valley Green Bank. Prior to joining Valley Green Bank, Mr. Astheimer was the Senior Vice President of Madison Bank in Blue Bell and a Senior Vice President of Continental Bank’s Philadelphia division.
Mark W. Biedermann
Mr. Biedermann is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Loan Officer of Valley Green Bank. He has more than 20 years experience in commercial banking and credit risk management. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Biedermann was the Regional Director of Commercial Banking for National Penn Bank's Southern Region and before that Vice President of asset-based finance for PNC Bank.
